Measurement of platelet regeneration time after treatment with cycloxygenase inhibitor

There is described a method for measuring the regeneration time of blood platelets in samples from a subject pretreated with a platelet cyclooxygenase inhibitor such as acetyl salicylic acid in which method, for each of the samples, after having been anticoagulated and after removal of the red cells therefrom, a counting of the total platelet number is made by turbidimetric measuring, the blood platelets are removed from the plasmatic medium thereof and after inhibition of the platelet agglomeration phenomenon with a suitable agent the malondialdehyde from said platelets is metered by colorimetry using for example thiobarbituric acid as reagent.
