This invention relates to solid writing materials capable of giving writings, drawings or markings which are readily erasable with a dry eraser such as a blackboard eraser, dry fabric, etc.PP This invention provides compositions for such solid writing materials comprising (i) an emulsifiable polyethylene wax, (ii) a liquid organic compound substantially incompatible with the component (i) and having a specified boiling point and viscosity, (iii) an organic solvent capable of dissolving or uniformly dispersing the components (i) and (ii) and having a specified boiling point and (iv) a pigment.
