PURPOSE:Wastes of desulfurization catalyst or its extraction residue is combined with sodium carbonate and coke and they are kneaded, calcined and extracted with an acid to effect the high-yield recovery of V, Mo, Co, and Ni. CONSTITUTION:Wastes of desulfurization catalyst or its extraction residue is combined with sodium carbonate and coke and they are kneaded, preferably combined with clay for giving viscous properties for the purpose of facilitating calcination, calcined, and extracted with an acid such as sulfuric acid to recover V, Mo, Co and Ni in high efficiency. Preferably, a kneaded product containing about 20wt% of sodium carbonate, about 10wt% of coke and about 5wt% of clay is calcined at about 1,100 deg.C for about 30min and the product is extracted with sulfuric acid of about 25wt% concentration in the pulp concentration of about 20wt%, whereby the most parts other than carbon in the residue are converted into alumina, which is used as a main raw material for alumina cement.
