The charcoal-burning barbecue grill incorporates a mobile unit (14,7') on which the grills are mounted. The unit can be lowered and raised in relation to the heat source, and the charcoal inserted, without cooking being discontinued. The transmission system for lowering and raising the unit consists of cogged wheels, linked chains and racks, or a screw, endless belt or hydraulic system. The front of the unit has at least one door (17), for insertion of the charcoal. A lengthwise support for the grill consists of bars (11) on uprights (4). A cover (1) acts as a fumes extractor, A shallow window (16) extends along the bottom of the front (7').
