Electronic device able to control in a completely electronic way the passage from traction mode to braking mode and vice versa of a DC machine with separate excitation, the forward and reverse running of the motor as well as the realization of a rheostatic braking. The chopper has two main thyristors (T1) and (T2) and a single extinction thyristor (T3) for the two main thyristors. The separate excitation winding (J) is traversed in one direction or in the opposite direction by means of four thyristors (T5) to (T8).
