Latex with good mech. properties, low coagulum content, and partcle size range 0.04-1.1 (mainly 0.6-0.7) are prepd. by one step polymn. or copolymn. of vinyl chloride in the presence of a H2o-sol. initiator and an emulsifier consisting of a prehomogenized mixt. of at least one C12-18 straightchain alkyl or alkenyl surfactant of the sulfate or carboxylate salt type and at least one C16-20 straight-chain alkyl of alkenyl alcohol or satd. hydrocarbon contg. 18 C atoms.
