On roller-type cutting machines in coal mines, with repairs being carried out, the device is for warning of rollers running - liable to cause fatal accidents - and for combating dust. A flow monitor (3) is provided in the water intake (1), following the hand valve (2), opening the protective control circuit in accordance with an adjustable delay interval. Between this and the hand valve there is an electric valve (4), opened in a tension-free condition, regulated by a relay (5) dependent on motor current and a relay (6) bridging the protective control circuit on idle running. This provides nozzle stopping and optimal chisel cooling, and at the same time warning of machine running, while combating dust and safeguarding against explosion.
