The electronic display assembly has a signal input keyboard, together with a memory and an excitation device for the alphanumeric matrix display. Characteristic symbols are associated with individual input signals, and individual input keys are arranged accordingly. This obviates individual memory elements and permits the use of display panel(s) with approximately 12 positions. Preferably the matrix display is of the liquid crystal, point matrix type. The electronic display is particularly suitable for electronic calendars and diaries. Together with reduced memory capacity, it provides directly legible presentation of the stored signals.
