Torque indicator for bolt - uses radial fingers on input washer which ride ramped flaps on output washer with screw jack to vary washer interval
Torque indicator for bolt - uses radial fingers on input washer which ride ramped flaps on output washer with screw jack to vary washer interval
The adjustable torque indicator fits between a spanner and a bolt. The radial fingers (4) of an input washer (3) ride the ramped tongues (6) of an output washer (5) to indicate prescribed torque. A lockable screw jack modifies the axial washer (3,5) interval and the torque. Washers (3,5) are connected by an axial pin (9), the former (3) being driven by a cup nut (8), and the latter having an output drive spigot (2'). A flanged (10) adjusting cup (12) screws into the nut and clips onto the pin, having a threaded bore for a locking screw (11). The cup (12) is rotated by a flange (10) to displace the pin and vary the axial washer (3,5) interval. It is locked by a tonque which grips the cup nut (8) bore thread (10) when the screw is driven home.
