A side plate (2) is fixed to the seat back and a second side plate (1) is fixed to the seat base and the two are joined together at common circulat sections by a central shaft. Between the two plates at the joint is an inter intermediate piece and a driver piece for the seat back. When a lever (10) presses into the notch (7) under the action of a spring (12), the intermediate piece (6) is locked and the seat back can be adjusted. When the lever disengages the notch, the whole seat back folds forward and then returns to its original adjusted position.
