The footrest for medical use is for a gynaecological examination table and comprises a sole (7) with the shape of a plantar arch. The sole can be arranged to hinge on a bracket, locked in the desired position on the latter by a screw. This allows the patient to relax comfortably during examination, unlike the conventional bar which cuts into the sole of the foot. The foot rest is mounted on a pivoted support bar to vary its position.
