Load-dependent Brake Pressure Proportioning Valves

The control piston 8 of a proportioning valve is subject to the pressing force of springs 11 which is adjustable in dependence on axle load by movement of a plunger 13. An annular piston 16 surrounding the control piston is subject at one end 15 to inlet pressure, and is subject at the other end to the load dependent force of a spring 12 which also bears on the plunger 13. As inlet pressure rises, the annular piston moves downwardly until it abuts the upper support 10 of the springs 11, providing at that point a second brake point in the characteristic curve of the valve.
