POWER TRANSMITTING MECHANISM FOR OSCILLATING ELECTRIC FAN

PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of sound and to smooth the transmission of power for oscillating an electric fan, by employing such an arrangement that a pinion shaft for transmitting the turning force of a motor to a fan oscillating mechanism and a worm wheel for receiving the turning force from the motor are coupled axially by use of tapered contact surfaces. CONSTITUTION:A pinion shaft 9 for transmitting the turning force of a motor to a fan oscillating mechanism and a worm wheel 8 for receiving the turning force from the motor are coupled together by use of tapered contact surfaces 14, 15. By employing such an arrangement, movement of the pinion shaft 9 and worm wheel 8 in respective directions and hence deviation of the worm wheel 8 as aroused in conventional arrangements can be prevented. Therefore, the worm wheel 8 is kept, during operation, out of contact with the pinion shaft 9, so that generation of sound can be prevented. On the other hand, since the contact ratio of the worm wheel 8 and a worm 7 is kept constant, it is enabled to transmit the turning force of the motor 3 and to cause oscillation of the fan head smoothly.
