The stop valve is for use in a fluid-distribution system, its body comprising two hollow parts (1, 2) hinging together and accommodating the pipe between them, and secured together by a screw (9) etc. on the side opposite the hinge pin. Each part has a joint (7) preventing fluid escape, while the top part (1) has a cover with a tapped hole accommodating a screwed spindle(6) connected inside the body to a cutting and sealing member (3). The sealing member (3) has a sealing portion (4) interrupting the fluid flow between the parts of the pipe formed by the cutting operation. The lower part of the body accommodates the lower end of the member. A further joint prevents fluid escape between the top part of the body and the member.
