Docket 6303APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING MULTIPLE UNIFORMFLUID FILAMENTS AND DROPSAbstract of the DisclosureMethod and apparatus for use in an ink jet printingdevice to synchronously produce a plurality of uniform fluidfilaments and droplets. A fluid reservoir is provided withan orifice plate having a plurality of orifices through whichthe fluid issues to produce the desired droplets. Above theliquid contained in the reservoir is a rigid piston suspendedabove the reservoir in contact with the liquid and havingmeans sealingly engaging between the piston and the sides ofthe reservoir. The piston is moved translationally up anddown by a plurality of electro-acoustical transducers whichare secured to the piston in contact with its upper surfaceso as to produce pressure fluctuations in the fluid uniformlyand synchronously over the plurality of orifices.-1-
