ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREThe invention is a process for preparing a fluorine-containingpolymer having carboxyl groups, which comprises subjecting a fluorine-containing polymer having sulfonyl halide groups bonded to it to an oxidationreaction at a temperature of not more than 250°C. The fluorine-containingpolymer produced are suitable materials for use in ion exchange membranes.
