The scales contain two parallel force sensors (1) on which strain gauges (2) are fixed. The strain gauges (2) are connected to an electronic display. Each force sensor (1) is a horizontal cylindrical rod (1) fixed, at one end, to the base of the scales and at the other end to the support of the plate on which the weight is placed or the person stands. By using cylindrical rods instead of the previously used parallelepipeds the machining of the sensors can be less accurate and their adjustment simpler. The sensors (1) can, after being freed, rotate inside their supports (3) in order to modify and equalise their relative sensitivity.
