Soundproof hood for the folding pockets of upset-folding mechanisms comprises hoods (5, 6) surrounding the upper and lower folding pockets and lined with soundproofing material. The hoods are pivotal into an open position away from the folding pockets so that these latter can be serviced. Parts (7,9) of the hoods are fixed at the folding mechanism end and upper removable parts (8, 10) of the hoods (5) (6), are carried by a rod (11) pivoted on arm 14 fixed to the upset-folding machine. The upper parts (8, 10) of the hood portions (5, 6) are, in the closed position, pressed by their own weight against the lower parts (7, 9) in the open position, the hoods rest on an abutment (16) under their own weight.
