METHOD, IMPLEMENT AND DEVICE FOR VACUUM MOLDING OF GLASS BY MELTING

PURPOSE:To mold characters, patterns, etc. on the front or rear surface of a glass body to be molded by sticking said body onto the molding surface of a molder then heating the glass body while sucking air between both and sucking the melted and solftened part into the mold. CONSTITUTION:A glass body 2 to be molded is adhered onto the molding surface 1b of a molder 1 formed beforehand with a mold surface 1a and the air in the tightly closed space A between the surface 1a of the molder 1 and the glass body 2 is sucked through the vent-holes 1d provided to the molder 1. While the suction is continued, the body 2 is heated, and the parts melted and softened by the heating are sucked into the mold, whereby shapes of characters, patterns, etc. are molded on the body 2. Materials which have heat resistance, are free from generation of strains even with high heat, and do not stick by burning on glass, for example, carbon, etc. are used as the material for the molder 1.
