PRODUCTION AND USE OF ZINC-CONTAINING ALUMINUM SILICATE CATALYSTS

Zinc-containing aluminium silicate catalysts are obtainable by exposing amorphous aluminium silicate or mixtures, from which such an aluminium silicate is obtainable, with aliphatic C2- to C24-amines and/or cycloaliphatic C4- to C24-amines and/or ammonium salts of these amines and/or quaternary ammonium compounds obtainable from these amines by quaternisation and with zinc compounds which are soluble or partially soluble in aqueous alkali solutions, in an aqueous medium at a pH greater than 8 to temperatures from 50 to 250 DEG C, then washing them out, drying and calcining at 300 to 600 DEG C, and the preparation thereof and the use thereof for converting lower alcohols and/or ethers to hydrocarbons.
