A mixer tap employing sliding ceramic discs as the sealing elements is operated by a single lever and is connected to hot and cold water supplies. According to the position of the control lever it can pass cold water, hot water, a mixture of the two or no water at all. In previous embodiments of the invention, mixing efficiency and water flow rate were affected by instability of flow caused by the shape of the mixing chamber, but in the embodiment described the mixing chamber is contained within a rotating ceramic disc and promotes efficient mixing of the two streams. Used for domestic water usage. Simple design permits a redn. in mfg. cost.
