PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF A 1,2-DIOXIME

A B S T R A C TA process is disclosed for the preparation of a1,2-dioxime of the general formula: (I)wherein A represents an aromatic group and R a hydrocarbyl groupor a hydrogen atom, which process comprises the oximation of ahydroxyiminoketone of the general formula: (II)wherein A and R have the same meaning as in the general formula Iand X and Y are different and represent an oxygen atom or a hydro-xyimino group, in the presence of a nickel compound forming acomplex with the 1,2-dioxime of the general formula I. The 1,2-dioximes are useful as copper- and nickel- extractants.
