Tilting gravity die-casting machine - with tilting axis through centre of gravity of moving assembly

Tilting gravity die-casting machine has the axis, about which it tilts, through the centre of gravity of the moving assembly. A cradle, comprising two crescent shaped end plates, joined by tie-bars, is carried by horizontal rollers in a support frame. The plates are positioned in grooves in the rollers, motor driven to tilt the cradle. Between the plates can adjustable table carries half the mould. Facing it a press opens and closes the other half. Tie-bars between table and pressmounting, forming part of the cradle, act as slides for the moving half carrier. They may be perpendicular to the tilting axis, or parallel to it. By making the tilting axis pass through or near the centre of gravity less power is required to operate the machine, it is easy to control, and maintainance is reduced. The arrangement leaves a clear centre around the mould, making casting removal, and die servicing easy. It can be applied to moulds split horizontally or vertically.
