The invention relates to a circuit arrangement for ultra-centrifuges for the protection against starting without the rotor. When the rotor is placed into the centrifuge chamber and rotated by hand, pulses are received by an electronic circuit. The electronic circuit processes the pulses and establishes a "rotor present" state indicating that the rotor is in the right place. When the rotor is removed, said state is automatically extinguished by bringing an arm, which may also carry a thermistor, into a raised position in which it actuates a switch thereby extinguishing the "rotor present" state. Raising of the arm is necessary to enable the rotor to be removed.
