To prevent unauthorised entry to a house by an intruder breaking the glazing of the door or window nearby, and then reaching inside to unlatch the door lock, a hasp 24 and a staple 25, both made from mild steel sheet 1/16th" thick, are fixed in position to cover the door lock latch operating knob 33, and when the hasp is locked in position by a separate lock, prevent the door lock latch from being operated. With the apparatus locked in position the door is still operable with the key from the outside.
