The pipe-lifting tackle comprises a body inserted in the pipe and with ram-operated clamping shoes, attached to a hoist. The body comprises a casing (1) containing a core (8) sliding in the longitudinal direction and coupled to a lifting eye (7). Ramp faces (10) on the core act against clamping shoes (13) sliding in the transverse direction in the casing. A ram (11,12) acting between core and casing slides them in relation to each other. There can be portions (16) on the shoes working with the ramp faces to retract them when the core is retracted.
