Method of inhibiting the development and Proliferation of Legionella pneumophila bacteria in an aqueous System

The 2-hydroxyethyl and 2-hydroxypropyl esters of methanethiol- sulfonic acid used either alone or in combination are highly effective in controlling the growth of Legionella pneumophila bacteria in aqueous systems. Examples of systems in which these esters may be used are cooling, air-washing and air conditioning systems.
