In order to automatically establish taken or current extractions by annular winding cores, a winding machine comprising an annular wire guide member (1) rotating around its own axis, the movement of which encircles the core section and is provided with a thread catcher member shaped hook (10) which by pivotal movement about an axis (11) parallel to the winding plane (8) against a first biasing force, can be switched from a resting position (10a) outside the winding plane (8) to a catching position (10b) engaging the winding plane (8) for receiving a loop of the winding wire (9). The thread catcher member (10) is influenced by a second biasing force having an opposite direction (37) against which, after having caught a wire loop in the catching position (10b), it is brought to a position retaining (10c) between the rest positions and catches (10a, 10b) and outside the winding plane (8) due to the clamping of the wire (9). The activation force of movement of the thread catcher member (10) is maintained for a predetermined period after ligation occupation of the retaining position (10c).
