A method for the preparation of sulfonylurea compds. of formula I[X = optionally substituted C3-6 alkylene or alkenylene; Y = C2-3 alkylene; R1 = C4-6 alkyl, cycloalkyl, (di)alkylcycloalkyl or (alkyl) cycloalkenyl, methylcyclopentylmethyl, cyclohexenylmethyl and their salts were developed. The title compds. have pronounced blood sugar- level-lowering action and are used as a treatment agent for diabetes.
