In a cable-stripping tool for removing the external insulation from cables having one or more cores, by means of two jaws which can be moved towards one another about a rotation point, like pliers, and of which at least one has a blade close to its end on the opposite side, the height and thickness of which blade correspond to a normal insulating sheath and which blade is arranged with its longitudinal direction at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the jaws, the rotation point (5) lies in the plane of symmetry of the jaws (3, 4), and the blade or blades (6, 7) are virtually matched, by virtue of their shape, to the course of the curvature of the inner wall of the jaw or jaws (3, 4).
