The invention relates to a process for transporting empty tubes through a supply channel to the work stations of a textile machine, especially of an open-end spinning machine. The object of the invention is to provide by simple means a transport of empty tubes to the individual work stations of the machine and in a simple way to make it possible, during the exchange of all or of individual bobbins for empty tubes, to ensure a friction-free rapid follow-up by the simplest possible means. According to the invention, the tubes are guided and transported to the work stations in the supply channel by a transport means in the transport plane formed on the upper face of a layer of tubes mounted in a channel and are inserted into the emptied locations of the supply channel by slipping down under the influence of gravity.
