Flight simulator producing reaction due to dry friction - has processor determining max. static friction and Coulomb friction generator for selectable output to amplifier circuits

The apots. includes a hydraulic jack controlled by a servo-valve to provide a reaction force on the control. A detector determines the force applied to the shaft of the jack, whilst position and speed detectors deliver corresp. signals relating to the control movement. Processing circuitry determines the appropriate values of static and moving friction which should be experienced. A two-position memory indicates wither the control is in fact static or moving, and accordingly the appropriate functional force is applied to it. The system is particularly intended for simulating the effects of dry friction.
