Modular elements for constructing lightweight structures, of the shop glass display cabinet arrangement type, composed: - of a set of end joining pieces 10; - of a set of lateral linking pieces 19; - of a set of shelves 20; - of a set of hollow profiled bars, each hollow profiled bar having, on the one hand, a lateral wall 2 and two end sections 5, 6, characterised in that, on the one hand, each hollow profiled bar 1 comprises at least one longitudinal groove 4 provided in the lateral wall and comprises two end sections of which one forms, with the longitudinal direction of the said bar, an angle alpha of not more than 90 DEG and of which the other forms, with the same direction, an angle equal to (180 DEG - alpha ), and in that, on the other hand, the end joining pieces are all mutually identical and are formed of two parts, which between them form an angle which is twice the angle alpha , and such that the height of the said joining pieces is equal to the largest dimension of the cavity of the hollow bar.
