PURPOSE:To produce a solid solution single crystal having uniform composition and free from crack by the floating zone melting method, by carrying out the growing of a solid solution single crystal using a sintered material having low void ratio as the raw material to be supplied to the floating zone melting furnace, and regulating the rate of growth within a specific range. CONSTITUTION:Powdery raw materials necessary for the production of a solid solution single crystal such as barium calcium titanate, etc. are weighed, mixed, calcined, pulverized, pressed, formed and sintered to obtain a sintered material having a void ratio of 5%.
