APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING LIGHT-GAUGE METALLIC STRIP BY QUICK COOLING

PURPOSE:To provide a titled apparatus which can make mass production of light-gauge metallic strip having good accuracy in thickness and surface roughness by the constitution in which a molten metal is ejected from nozzles into the spacing between a roll provided with the nozzles having mechanism for opening and shutting the nozzles and a cooling roll. CONSTITUTION:A heat-insulating material layer 9 is provided between open/shut mechanisms (not shown) which open and shut =1 piece of nozzles 8 at every prescribed time and the other part with an apparatus for producing a light- gauge metallic strip by quick cooling consisting of a roll 7 with nozzles provided with said nozzles 8 on the outside circumference and a cooling roll 4 installed in parallel apart by a slight space therefrom. The roll 7 and the roll 4 are rotated in opposite directions and a molten metal is ejected from the nozzles 8 and is quickly cooled and solidified by both rolls 7, 4. The solidified metal is extruded from the slight space and a light-gauge metallic strip 5 is obtd. The mass production of ribbon ''Sendust'' or amorphous alloy having good accuracy in surface roughness and no variance in thickness is made possible by the above- mentioned apparatus.
