PRODUCTION OF PRESSURE-SENSITIVE CARBONLESS RECORD SHEETS USING DIOIC ACID HOT MELT SYSTEMS AND PRODUCTS THEREOF

Coating compositions are prepared from at least one chromagenic material, preferably a colour developer of the acidic electron donor type, and at least one solid aliphatic dioic acid, with the possible addition of colour intensifiers, colour stabilizers, and rheology modifying materials. The disclosed use of such compositions as hot melt chromogenic coating compositions for the production of pressure-sensitive carbonless record sheets by coating and setting the composition on a suitable substrate is shown to have substantial advantages, which are most apparent in the production of manifold carbonless forms, since the troublesome and expensive steps of heating, drying and solvents extraction or recovery are avoided.
