A jointing ring (3) for sealing of gables in a casting mould (5) for surround casting of a cable splice for two cables (1) with a casting mass is formed as an open spiral (3) of a mouldable, elastic material, e.g. plastic foam of expanded polyethylene, with a size of about 1 1/2 layers. Both ends of the spiral are narrowing in diameter in order to be lain on top of each other forming a layer almost as thick in diameter as the rest of the spiral (3). The inside of the spiral is coated with a layer of glue (13), designed to fix the spiral (3) to one of the spliced cables (1) and for fastening the outer tab of the spiral (12) to its inner tab (11).IMAGE
