A B S T R A C TA granular material having a cross-linked cationic polymeradhered to at least a portion of the surface thereof is very effectivein separating oil dispersed in water. The material can be preparedby reacting a monomeric cationic component and a cross-linking agent atleast partially in the presence of base material to adhere the polymerto the base.
