Process for the production of N-(2-aminobenzyl)-1-phenyl-2-methylaminoethanol, characterised in that 2-nitrobenzylmethylamine is reacted with styrene oxide in a dimethylformamide medium and the N-(2-nitrobenzyl)-1-phenyl-2-methylaminoethanol so obtained is subjected to a direct catalytic hydrogenation in ethanol.
