The reel consists of two circular flanges, between which is mounted a cylindrical core, the flanges being rotatably mounted in a housing. During unwinding of the cable resetting spring is tensioned. The spring is provided with current terminal for connection to a current source. It has a releasable latching pawl engaging corresponding teeth on the reel. The pawl carries parts of a mechanical T-shaped flip-flop which has a closed cam path with two stable positions. Corresponding counterparts are mounted on the housing. The pawl carries rigidly a lever radially directed to the reel centre point. A lever engaging sliding mechanism is mounted on one reel flange for carrying the lever or the pawl during the rotary movement of the reel.
