Intercell connectors (1) and endpoles, which are usually cast as small lead parts, are surface-treated by cold forming in a die so that they are less susceptible to corrosion at least at the region where they pass through a cell partition (7) or a housing lid. In addition, a long creepage path and good keying with the injection-moulded material forming the wall (7) are provided by circumferential grooves (3) and other extremely fine grooves (4) formed on the central shaft section (2), with the result that the lead/plastic boundary zone is not infiltrated by the battery acid.
