The device has a retaining structure with adjustable feet, on which structure there is mounted in a displaceable and overhanging fashion an arm which can be fixed at the desired level. A transverse element is pivoted between its ends on the said arm and supports at a distance from the fulcrum two displaceable measuring rods or graduated rods which can be applied, preferably in an electromagnetic fashion, to the rim of the wheel (or to a part detachably connected to the rim). The difference between the various displacements of these graduated rods, which displacements are required for their application to the rim, is equivalent to an angular measurement which, depending on the plane in which the said rods are brought into use, relates to the toe-in or to the camber. In order to obtain the angular measurement directly, there is provided on the pivoted transverse part a pointer which interacts with a scale which is arranged on the arm which holds the transverse part.
