PURPOSE:To enable to control the timing for starting fuel injection accurately at the time of medium and high-speed operation of an engine, by fixing the injection starting timing at the time of starting the engine, and not executing calculation of the injection starting timing. CONSTITUTION:Data PM relating to the intake pressure detected by an intake pressure sensor 4, data THA relating the intake-air temperature detected by an intake-air temperature sensor 5 and data THW relating to the water temperature detected by a water temperature sensor 7 are picked up into an A/D conversion routine at predetermined time intervals and stored in a prescribed location of a RAM106. A control circuit 10 calculates the injection quantity of fuel and determines the fuel injection timing of each cylinder individually from the output signals of a crank-angle sensors 9, 11. Here, if it is detected from the engine speed that the engine is under starting, the injection starting timing Ti is fixed and the injection quantity tau of fuel at the time of starting the engine is calculated. At the time of ordinary operation of the engine, however, the injection starting timing Ti and the final injection quantity tau are calculated from the data PM relating to the intake pressure and the data Ne relating to the engine speed, and fuel is injected to a plurality of cylinders individually on the basis of the above injection starting timing Ti and final injection quantity tau. Therefore, it is enabled to control the injection starting timing accurately at the time of medium- and high-speed operation of the engine.
