PURPOSE:To smoothly and economically drive a long belt, by using a plurality of coupling metals to endlessly conjoin a plurality of belt members to one another and by using a sprocket to drive the belt through the coupling metals. CONSTITUTION:In a chainless conveyor, an endless belt B is revolved in the direction of the arrow by the rotation of a sprocket 1 having a plurality of teeth 2 at regular intervals on the peripheral part. The belt B includes a plurality of members 4 having predetermined dimensions and endlessly conjoined to one another by coupling metals 5. To conjoin the belt members 4 to each other, their adjacent side edges are inserted into the opening 5' of the coupling metal 5 which has a U-shaped cross section and whose central part 5a is curved slightly downwards. The inserted portions of the belt members 4 are bent before a wedge 7 is knocked in. To drive the belt B, the teeth 2 of the sprocket 1 are engaged with the coupling metals 5 to revolve the belt.
