Total energy aircraft altimeter - uses barograph recording drum to provide log of altitude during flight

The barograph records the pressure and hence altitude of an aircraft, and records the information on a paper wrapped around a cylinder. The cylinder is driven by a clock mechanism. The barograph is not intended to be held by the pilot, and is sealed in order to record the progress of the flight. - The barograph records the total altitude which would appear against thev=0 graduation of an automatic total energy altimeter. It is then possible to choose another reference speed - for example v=80km/hr and take corresp. readings. The barograph is connected to a dynamic pressure terminal in the aircraft which is also used for speed indication.(0/0)
