Total energy altimeter for aircraft - has transparent disc graduated in speed and fitted to pivot on altimeter spindle

A disc of transparent plastic material pivots freely on the spindle of an altimeter. The disc is graduated in speed and is set by by hand to the speed setting prior to a manoeuvre to permit indication of speed as the attitude is read. Alternatively the disc can be adjusted from the pilot or speed indicator rather than adjustment by hand. This ensures permanent alignment of altitude and speed on the instrument. - A third version comprises a pocket calculator in the form of a straight or circular slide rule. The central part slides and is graduated in speed while the fixed part is graduated in altitude, the ranges of speed and altitude may be greater than for the other instruments to cater for high performance vehicle.
