The process for improving the properties of crystalline thermoplastic composites contg. sepiolite consists of treating the sepiolite in benzne suspension at b. pt. with an aliphatic mono-carboxylic acid in presence of a condensn. catalyst, e.g. p-toluene sulphonic acid, for 1-2 hours, followed by filtration, washing and drying in vacuum. It is carried out in a double chamber reactor, through which circulates a heating fluid at 120 deg. C.
