ABSTRACTA portable chain saw sharpening kit comprisesa sharpener body in the form of an inverted U-shapedchannel-defining member adapted to be placed overthe bar of a chain saw, a rotary burr with a taperedabradant end portion which is receivable in a selectedone of two horizontal guide bores provided in thesharpener body, and an alignment pin which is likewisereceivable in a selected one of the two guide bores.The alignment pin comprises a shank portion anda reduced end portion, the latter providing anabutment surface for positioning a cutting linkwithin the sharpener body channel in the properposition for sharpening. The shank portion andreduced end portion of the alignment pin are prefer-ably cylindrical and have different diameters,with the reduced end portion being eccentricallyoffset from the shank portion and having a diametersubstantially equal to the widest diameter of thetapered abradent end portion of the rotary burr.
