The rear of the towing vehicle is fitted with a lever (3) pivoting about a horizontal, transverse axis (2), and fitted with a towing hook at the free end. The hinged end has a lateral extension (3c) to form a leverage point for attaching a ram (6) to lift and secure the lever. The system enables the hinged towing bars of twin axles trailers to be lifted and secured without any manual effort. The lever is retained in its raised position by a safety catch, with a remote release. The pivot point for the lever is between the rear axle plane of the tractor and the rear end.
