Such a device comprises at least one mast, which can be erected in a mobile manner with an adjustable height on which at least one freely adjustable guide roller is mounted, and a drive unit which can likewise be erected in a mobile manner and on whose drive shaft a pulley is mounted via which an endless belt having at least one target marking runs to the guide roller on the mast. The speed of circulation is continuously adjustable so that the target marking which is mounted on the belt moves at the same speed as a clay pigeon.
